Magazine Name and Font Experimenting

I have experimented the design of my masthead with the two names I was thinking about using. I have tried to use bright colours so that they stand out but no so bright that it is annoying. I think the best one is with the purple and green. It stands out without being too in your face.

Initial Ideas for my Student Magazine

Names and Connotations
- The Student Gamer- The word gamer connotes fun and enjoyment and the word student relates to my audience.
- Ntertain - The word entertain connotes being entertained. The abbreviation like effect makes the mag seem more fun.

Contents
My magazine will talk about games, music, things on the internet, etc. There will also be tips to help students get coursework and homework. There will be information on events, whether educational or no happening in the local area, such as festivals.

House Style
My house style will be consistent, using colours that will catch the eyes and interest both boys and girls. I will stick to two, possibly three, different font styles; one for the Masthead of the magazine, one for main headlines and maybe another for any other writing. Having only a few fonts will make the magazine seem more sophisticated.

Mode of Address
My magazine will be formal but given in an informal manner. This way, it still informs the reader but makes it an easy and enjoyable read.

Images
I will have a central image on the front cover, covering most of the page. This will therefore be given the most attention. There will also be other images for smaller stories. Some of the images will be of students but all of them will relate to students in some way.

Price
The magazine will probably be free but if it was to cost anything it wouldn't be much more than one or two pound, as students wouldn't want to spend too much on a magazine and may not have a lot of spare money.

Introduction to Brief

My AS Media coursework includes creating a front cover page, a contents page and a double page spread of a new music magazine. I have created this blog in order to keep an account of my work, i.e. research, planning, etc.
