Time Management Post

At this point I should be on week 7. However, I am in fact doing work on week 4, 5 and 6. This may be because I have not worked as well as possible. I will continue to work in my own time to catch up.

Preparing for my Photo Shoot- Costumes

I think that what my models wear is vital, in order to portray the appropriate atmosphere. The models that I have chosen all like the same kind of music as I do and therefore like my sub-genre of music magazine, so I am going to get them to simply wear an everyday outfit of theirs. This will be best, I feel, as it will be real and gives the sense that these people are just normal and influenced by the fashion and style of their favourite music.

unknown.jpgJamie: Jamie usually wears a sort of funky t-shirt with maybe a shirt over the top. This would be good because it gives off a smart-casual vibe, which is very appropriate for for my genre of pop/rock music, as artists want to look good but be comfortable at the same time. He also wears skinny jeans. These would be appropriate, especially for the rock type style, as they are a little stereotypical. I know that he own a few pairs of shoes and they are all quite simple. I like this because it gives a possible get them on and go feel, which might liven things up a little.

Alex.C:
Alex.C also wears quite smart-casual clothes, with fairly simple t-shirts, slim fit jeans and trainers. This is simple but stylish and again connotes relaxation, but while looking good. Looking at him, it seems he doesn't think too much, and frankly care that much, about fashion but still have a good style that I think is perfect for my magazine.

Alex.P: Alex.P dresses similarly to the others but often wears clothes that are a little duller. This may be  portraying his emotions and therefore would work well because it creates a bigger connection with the reader. It is also quite simple, so suits my magazine, as my magazine won't have too much going on because I want to connote relaxation, as well as enjoyment.

Preparing for my Photo Shoot- Photo Ideas

I want to include a few images in my magazine but i want all of them to be fairly similar. This will be medium shots or medium long shots. I feel that these will work best for my magazine, as they are close enough to create a connection with the reader but far enough away so that you get a sense of mystery, urging you to read the article. I also don't want any variety in shot angles. This may sound bad but I want all my models to be at the same level as the reader, to connote a sense of respect and equality. Which will, possibly sub-consiously, draw readers in and allow them to enjoy it more by creating an effective music magazine of my sub-genre, pop/rock.

James-Blunt--james-blunt-646596_1280_1024.jpgFor my front cover I will use a medium long shot, or something similar, of a male artist, most likely. The are two main reasons that I chose this. The first is that a lot of magazines, with the same sort of sub-genre to mine, use medium long shots on their front covers, so this shows I am using my research. The second reason is that I think this style best suits my magazine and is a very effective way of showing the artist, as you don't get the whole picture but enough to intrigue you. It almost makes the reader read the article on this artist, as they haven't been given the whole story. I think I will take the photo as if the reader is looking up at the model. This will connote status and authority maybe.

On my contents page I will use one image of a member of a band . The image of the artist will be a medium shot perhaps. I chose this because it will create a deeper connection than, say, a long shot, as you are getting quite close. It adds a personal touch from the model, I think.

NME+Double+Page+Spread.jpg
NME+Double+Page+Spread.jpgFor my double page spread,  my main photo  will probably be a group shot of a band, as this gives a fuller story and connotes a sense of completion. I will also use a couple of a fun photos of the band, this will connote excitement.

Time Management Post

I have finished my flat plans and mock ups, however, I am still behind. I am and will continue to use my free time to get work done, in order to get back on track.

Masthead Mocks

Another reason I plan to use the first and fourth one of the second set is because it is simple but fun, so connotes excitement and enjoyment but also relaxation, which is something I want to do, as I want my readers to feel relaxed. The actual words, 'Fair Play', connote a sense of skill- referring to the slang compliment, 'fair play'- but also respect and equality.

Double Page Spread Flat Plans

These are my flat plans for my double page spread and the more developed one shows possible development of ideas for colour, fonts, etc.

Contents Page Flat Plans

Again, here I have a basic flat plan and a more developed flat plan. They both, but more so the second one, experiment with and give an idea of the sort of things I want to do.

My Front Cover Flat Plans

Here is, firstly, my basic flat plan for my front cover and then a more developed flat plan. The second one experiments with font, colours, and shows more developed ideas, where as, the first one only really suggests a possible layout.

Audience Feedback for my Pitch

Although the students that I interviewed preferred the name 'Shout Out', after developing my idea more and sharing my developed ideas with them, and other students, they all agreed that the name 'Fair Play' would be more suitable. However, the rest of my audience feedback was very helpful and, frankly, what I hoped for. Most of them seemed to like my idea and those that didn't simply listened to different genres of music that my magazine would feature. I could decide to have a few articles that would cater for others. They also gave me a few clues to things such as how much to charge for my magazine and the sort of range of artists that I should include.

Time Management Post

I am on week 5 of my task but I am working on week 4 of my action plan. However, I do need to post a few things on my blog. This is possibly because of internet connection problems in college but also because I perhaps haven't been working at the rate I should be. Unfortunately, I often don't have access to the internet at home as well, so I will have to come to college in my own time, in order to catch up.
